Appalachian citizens, get excited: a major new update for Fallout 76 has arrived! The locked and loaded update not only brings a new season of unlockable content to the game, but also several highly anticipated features that fans are sure to appreciate right off the bat.

To help us dive deeper into Locked & Loaded, Mark Tucker, Design Director at Bethesda Game Studios, took the time to share his thoughts on all the exciting content now available to gamers, starting with a brand new season. from Fallout 76.

“For Season 4, Armor Ace will be making its second appearance on the new Cold Steel game board,” Tucker says. “In Cold Steel, Armor Ace teams up with his fellow Power Patrol teammates Ice Breaker and Oneshot to take on the Yukon Five, led by Commander Chaos.

As with previous seasons, players can expect to unlock all kinds of new content as they progress through the game board, including outfits, Power Armor skins, weapon skins, Workshop items (including a new Collectron) in addition to an assortment of consumable rewards. such as perk card packs, scrap kits, gold bars and more.

“My personal favorites for the upcoming season are the Commander Chaos power armor skin and the Breath of Death flamethrower skin,” reveals Tucker. “The Commander Chaos skin is possibly one of the most unique and coolest skins we’ve ever put in the game – and that says a lot because we have some amazing and unique Power Armor skins in the game! The Breath of Death skin will put me on the hunt for a good Legendary Flamethrower to apply this skin to, as it is sick. “

Looks like we’ll need some space to show off all of these goodies – luckily Locked & Loaded is giving all players an extra CAMP slot to help them expand their territory in Appalachia! With this additional location, avid builders can create a new base of operations, a lair, a home away from home, or whatever they can imagine, regardless of their original CAMP.

“No one needs to worry about how they get that extra spot. Everyone will receive an additional CAMP slot when the update goes live, for a total of two CAMPs! Tucker said. “We also endeavor to respond to many of our players’ comments and suggestions on [C.A.M.P.s and Shelters]. We hope to reveal more in future updates, so to anyone who enjoys creating stuff in our game: stay tuned. “

Another feature requested by fans coming in the Locked and Loaded update is the SPECIAL loadings. With SPECIAL loadouts, players can save their favorite perks and SPECIAL stat allowances, making it easier than ever to have the right character for the job while enjoying Fallout 76’s wide array of activities and challenges. .

“Gamers have been asking for this feature pretty much since it launched, so it’s something we’ve wanted to get into the game ever since,” Tucker says. “Having said that, we wanted to make sure we got it right and gave the players something that we thought they would really enjoy.”

“Initially, we looked to just do Perk loads, but the more we played with that design the more we realized that it didn’t allow players to really switch builds. So we’ve expanded the design to also allow players to change not only their perks, but also their SPECIAL points – this allows players to change not only the things they are good at (perks) for, but also the ‘DNA’. of their character. is (SPECIAL stats), which directly influences what they’re good at. I also like knowing that I can easily try different versions whenever I get a good result on the new Legendary loot and don’t have to delete my “standard” version, and that I can experiment with different SPECIAL versions and Perk without losing the one I currently have fun with. “

Does the current mission call for a stealthy character at the feet of the fleet? A particularly robust construction with high endurance? As much weapon proficiency as possible? As well as giving players more choice in how they play, Loadouts are a particularly useful tool for completing challenges such as Fallout 76’s Daily Ops missions.

Speaking of daily operations, the Locked and Loaded update brings a host of new locations and mutators. to the rotation of daily operations. Players can now encounter Vault 96, The Watoga Raider Arena, and West Tek Research Center as they try out recurring Fallout 76 encounters.

“Each location not only looks and feels unique, but also really changes the gaming experience,” says Tucker. “West Tek looks a bit more like a maze with short lines of sight and tight combat spaces, while the Watoga Raider Arena has much longer lines of sight and more open combat spaces with a lot of verticality.

A new Daily Ops game mode, Decryption, also offers its own set of challenges, including hard-hitting enemies enhanced with the Savage Strike mutation that bypasses armor. “Decryption encourages players to take out enemies before they can attack you,” Tucker explains. “Basically he embraces sneaky builds and stealthy playstyles. If you are more of a run and gun type player, you might find this mode a bit more difficult. ”

“Personally, I do pretty well in this mode with a teammate because I tend to play a sneak-rifle. However, some enemy mutations like Resilient can make it much more difficult. When I see this one appear, it motivates me to change my build to be more melee-centric (which is pretty easy now thanks to the SPECIAL loadouts.) ”

As far as mutations go, the latest batch of enemy buffs force players to adopt new tactics on the fly, spicing up combat in a daily operation. Toxic Blood enemies, for example, leave behind death poisoned dangers that can deal tons of damage to unconscious players, especially in crucial choke points or objective areas. Meanwhile, group regeneration allows enemies close to each other to heal at a very fast rate and the rapid foot mutation dramatically increases the enemy’s movement speed, keeping players on their toes at all times. .

When it comes to the future of Fallout 76, the team at Bethesda Game Studios are always forward-looking and welcome feedback from the community, from new features to locale to day-to-day operations. “We have some ideas, but we’re not ready to share them yet. I encourage our players to continue offering their suggestions on locations they would like to see added! Tucker concludes. “Player comments and contributions are an important factor that helps us in our decisions.”
