Team Group has presented its first DDR5 RAM kit of 16 GB, that is to say that the initial maximum capacity will be of 32 GB. These new memories reach 4800 Mhz with a voltage of 1.1V and frequencies of CL40-40-40-77. According to the Taiwanese company, these memories are much more stable and offer twice the band than DDR4, so they are the future.
Other analysts agree with Team Group, as DDR5 is expected to take the market by 2023. However, the launch of these memories seems somewhat early, especially since motherboards compatible with this new technology would not arrive until September, or maybe a little later, it’s all up to Intel.
First of all
For its part, AMD motherboards will not be DDR5 compatible, or at least there are no plans or rumors that AMD is in the process of launching a new series of mobos this year. In theory they would do it for the arrival of Ryzen 4, but the new processors would not be released until mid-2022. In this way, these new Team Group memories still do not have a home to land in.
In addition, the cost of the two modules is 400 dollars, a very high price for only 32 GB of RAM. The new technology is likely to prove its value quickly, but we don’t imagine that Team Group has produced many of these as it doesn’t expect to sell too many either. The idea is to get to this new technology first, perhaps that is why they have titled their blog post like this: “leading the pack”.
In any case, the base speed of these memories is 4800 MHz, it is unknown if they can be overclocked, but the truth is that this speed is already much more than the base speed of DDR4 (2133 Mhz). Team Group reveals that it plans to sell them by the end of this month, but that in many regions they will most likely not be available until July. They will be for sale on Amazon and Newegg, as well as other hardware platforms in America and Europe.
