Striking Distance Studios’ latest trailer for The Callisto Protocol confirms that an actor from Netflix’s The Boys plays a major role in the game.
Striking Distance Studios released a new trailer for The Callisto Protocol today, featuring The Boys actress Karen Fukuhara. While the developers announced her role in the game some time ago, the studio hadn’t revealed much about her character. Today’s trailer is the first time Striking Distance Studios has given fans a good look at Fukuhara as The Callisto Protocol’s Danny Nakamura.
Directed by former Dead Space developer Glen Schofield, The Callisto Protocol follows protagonist Jacob Lee’s attempt to escape from the mutant-infested Black Iron prison colony on Jupiter’s moon Callisto. A spiritual successor to the sci-fi horror series, The Callisto Protocol attempts to bring the visceral combat and gruesome body horror of Dead Space to a new stage this December.
Callisto Protocol’s new The Truth of Black Iron trailer shows off some of the mysteries of the upcoming game. This includes questions about the fate of Callisto’s previous colony, which disappeared sometime before the Black Iron prison was built. It is also the first trailer to prominently feature Lee’s cellmate, Danny Nakamura, voiced by Karen Fukuhara of The Boys. While Lee appears to be primarily concerned with escaping Callisto, Nakamura is much more interested in finding answers. She appears to be the main force pushing Lee to unravel the conspiracy behind the alien mutagen that transformed the inmates of Black Iron into the hideous biophages of the Callisto Protocol.
Los Angeles-born actress of Japanese descent, Karen Fukuhara began her entertainment career when the Disney Channel cast a teenage Fukuhara as the host of its entertainment news show Movie Surfers. However, the actress is best known for playing Kimiko Miyashiro on Amazon Prime’s The Boys. Fukuhara’s other notable roles include superheroine Katana in the 2016 film Suicide Squad and Glimmer in the Netflix show She-Ra and the Princesses of Power. She also voiced supporting characters in Cartoon Network’s Craig of the Creek, FX’s Archer and Disney’s Star Wars: Visions, and the title character in Netflix’s Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts.
The developers confirmed Fukuhara’s role as Danny Nakamura in The Callisto Protocol some time ago. However, fans haven’t seen anything of the character until the latest trailer for the game earlier today. Previous trailers for Callisto Protocol have focused almost exclusively on protagonist Jacob Lee and the sinister and mysterious Black Iron Warden, who appears to be the main antagonist of the game. Today’s trailer not only reveals Nakamura’s appearance, but also seems to confirm that he will have a very important role in the upcoming game.
The Callisto Protocol launches on December 2 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
