Astria Ascending characters.

It is becoming more and more common to learn that the creators of our favorite sagas like Final Fantasy end up giving up their position at AAA studio to found their own studio and target smaller projects. Astria Ascending is the result of a group of highly experienced developers working together to write a new story.

In this turn-based RPG game, we control a group of heroes known as “Demigods” who must protect the world from entities called “Noise” that seek food and a key element of this world known as Orcanon.

A very alive world

In the new trailer they introduce us to their six races: Meryos, Peyskas, Zefts, Arktans, Awisis and Mygmys. The latter are responsible for collecting and distributing the Harmelon, the fruit that allows all these races to live in harmony in this vast world. This setting, races and history comes from Kazushige Nojima, who will contribute the same in games like Final Fantasy VII, VIII, X, Kingdom Hearts and many more.

On the other hand, the musical composition comes from Hitoshi Sakimoto, another who worked at Square Enix on games like Vagrant Story and Final Fantasy XII and now works freelance as Nojima. Lastly, the CyDesignation illustrators, Akihiko Yoshida and Hideo Minaba, were in charge of the art.

This entire team helps Dear Villagers and Artisan Studio create this project that will be released on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X / S, Switch, and Steam. In this last we can now add it to the wish list so that we are notified when it can be pre-purchased.

Below you can see the shared trailer that reveals part of the story and gameplay. The studio also shared a video with some of the developers working on the game, including Nojima and Sakimoto.
