The PlayStation 2 we remember so well and which was one of the best-selling consoles in history, keep hiding great secrets that gradually they were revealed and became popular among fans of Sony consoles.
They were based on the last computer produced by Atari
And is this console not entirely designed by Sony, but Sony bought the design patent for the last computer designed and produced by Atari, the Falcon 030 Microbox, all when the pioneer of the arcade game went bankrupt. The console designers used this computer to make the PS2, a design that was not exclusive to this console, as the PlayStation 4 follows similar lines while doubling the size of Sony’s second console.
This Atari computer had the distinction of being a computer that could be placed both horizontally and vertically, a feature that caught the attention of the designers of PlayStation 2 and they wanted to add to this console, making it a very versatile console that adapts to any space. Although the second Sony console did have some substantial changes that were maintained in the following generations of consoles such as the black color which replaced the gray of the first console and which was present not only on the PlayStation 2 but also on 3 and 4 and at number 5, although the latter is no longer the dominant color.
Sony consoles keep many mysteries. In fact, recently we were talking about a model that became the big failure of PlayStation. And, despite its great features, the console has failed to capture gamers’ interest.
