Hello Vikings! Tribes of Midgard Community Manager Sydnee is here again to welcome you to Tribes of Midgard Season 2: the Serpent Saga. The Serpent Saga is the next chapter in our Midgard adventure, and adds another level of exploration and excitement for players to sink their teeth into.

Oceans, boating and swimming – Oh my God!

At launch, many people discovered the uncomfortable truth about the Vikings in Tribes of Midgard – they weren’t exactly good swimmers. Whether it was a misdirected dodge or a jump off a ledge… The Viking tribes of Midgard could not swim… until now! We’ve heard your drowning screams loud and clear and have been working hard to implement Aquatic Exploration for Season 2.

At the start of Season 2, we’re introducing swimming, boating, and an ocean biome full of dangers and opportunities. How it works ? Good question! Let’s go into the details:

  • To swim: You can now explore our ocean biomes, but I wouldn’t be too confident with your swimming ability, as it is limited by your Viking’s stamina bar. Make sure you’re back on a boat or shore (or do like the rest of us and use one last way to teleport to your village) when your stamina is depleted or you head straight to Rán’s water rooms. So now your fate is in your hands.
  • Shipyard: First, you will need to rebuild your shipyard, just like you would the quarry, farm, lumber yard, etc. From there you will have access to boat kits and be faced with a decision. As you level up the shipyard, you’ll gain access to new, more robust ship kits, all of which will allow you to use your build screen to build your ship.
  • Nautical: Are you going with Drakkars that will require more material, but will retain more players, have higher HP, and move faster when every moment is a race against Ragnarök? Or smaller, more nimble Faerings… that are more fragile and carry fewer tribesmen? The choice is yours !.
  • Streams are for streamers, not boating: Not all waters are equal in Tribes of Midgard – so note that you can only build boats in the ocean, not rivers or ponds (you don’t really know where you would go anyway).

However, being on a boat doesn’t mean you’re invincible either (don’t be fooled by your Viking pride)!

  • Enemies and battles by the beach: The shores of Midgard are teeming with dangers and creatures that can smash your sturdy ship to pieces before you even reach land! You can explore the oceans fearlessly, but beware of the shore you run aground on, as not all locals will wait with a warm welcome.
  • Sailors: If exploring the sea doesn’t seem like your thing then you’d better have someone in your tribe who can, as the world of Midgard will now be divided into the main continent and a strip of larger islands. small in the Midgardian Sea. The Vikings and their village will always spawn on the mainland, with merchants, points of interest, and Saga Boss unlock conditions scattered across these islands.

Don’t throw it

To help you with your exploration and impending battles, we have added five runes, each of which will drop at random in the game. We want to have some surprises after this article, so we will reveal these runes closer to the launch. I’ll say this: As with the runes added for Mid-Saga 1, these will be available in future sagas. In addition to the launch and season 1 runes, you’ll now have 40 runes at your disposal to tailor the game to whatever playstyle suits you best.

SSSS Say my name …

As many of you have experienced with Fenrir, the vibrant and lush world of Midgard is also home to some rather formidable enemies that even make the Jötnar look tame. While we are not yet ready to reveal all the details surrounding our Serpent Saga boss, you will find this mythical creature of legend on a desolate island offshore. For all Fenrir fans, fear not. Fenrir will remain in the game alongside the Saga 2 boss, and you can even attempt to defeat both in one world!

Before you can even set foot in their lair (or cave, or treehouse? Who knows), you’ll need to unlock the lair. I won’t just tell you how to do it, but I would advise you to familiarize yourself with your boat!

Yggdrasil Christmas

We’re not done stacking the content yet! Along with the launch of Season 2, we are giving you the gift that continues to be given: our holiday season. For three consecutive weeks, we’ll be featuring festive seasonal content, including a pet, cosmetics, and festive changes to your main menu and village. So be sure to participate every week to collect these Christmas rewards!

Phew, that was a lot. In addition to the content we’ve shared above, Season 2 will also feature a host of additional balance and quality of life updates that you’ll definitely enjoy. I don’t want to ruin everything for you just yet, so keep your eyes peeled for more updates over the next few weeks leading up to Season 2.

A saga for the road

And that’s just the start for Tribes of Midgard. We’ve shared our updated roadmap outlining our future content plans – with many more to come in 2022 as you can see above. So, yeah, you’ve been stuck with us for quite some time. 🙂
