Ubisoft just announced a new game in the Tom Clancy’s franchise that it already has over 2000 dislikes on YouTube trailer. Beyond the enthusiasm with which the game was presented, it is certainly very generic and derivative, so the welcome has not been warm.
XDefiant is a 6v6 shooter with characters from the Tom Clancy franchises, for now none have been revealed since those in the trailer are original characters. Nonetheless, Ubisoft promises iconic characters for the future.
New Ubisoft shooter
The part that stands out the most about this game is that it will be free-to-play, unlike the other dozens of Ubisoft shooters. The game has a very difficult to ignore resemblance to Rainbow Six Siege and the upcoming Rainbow Six Extraction, and we did not mention The Division 1 and 2.
In general, shooting mechanics, shield barriers, melee attacks and characters of different classes (tank, assault, etc.) with striking skins were seen. All of this is what appears to be small stages with you seem like primarily a place to take cover from the shots.
It’s a AAA so it’s probably good. However, it does not seem that at launch it has a corner in which to settle. That said, the same thing happened to Rainbow Six Siege and The Division back in the day, and now they’re in a great place.
Tom Clancy’s XDefiant is coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X / S, PC, Stadia, and Amazon Luna. It does not have a release date yet, but it will launch an open beta on PC on August 5.
