What had been leaked months ago ended up being true, Valve returns to the world of video game hardware with a laptop. Steam Deck It is proposed as the definitive portable console in which you can play the entire PC gaming catalog, mainly the Steam one.
And is that one of the most important revelations is that Steam Deck will work like a PC, a laptop. It comes with Steam OS as standard, but you can remove it and install Windows 10 if this sounds better to you. In this way, you can use it to play in stores of other companies, even those of Valve’s competition, such as Epic Games.
Hardware to play what you want
The device will have a 7-inch LCD touch screen with 1280 × 800 and 60hz resolution, a custom AMD APU with a 4-core and 8-thread CPU combined with 8 RDNA 2 compute units for the GPU and 16GB of RAM. It’s basically better than a Switch and has a technical tie with PS4 and Xbox One.
It will also have audio output (3.5mm), a USB port to connect to a PC or monitor, and the basic buttons. Also two trackpads that serve as a mouse and four configurable buttons on the back.
For its part, the prices will be those that you can see in the image of. $ 400 for the base model, $ 529 for the middle and $ 649 for the best.
The difference lies in the amount of storage and the quality of it. The two most expensive models will have an NvMe SSD, while the cheapest will have an SD card. Of course, all models will be equally powerful and can improve their storage with mini SD cards of any kind.
For now, the console will be sold in the United States, United Kingdom and Australia and reservations begin tomorrow. While the launch as such will be in December of this year.
