Watch Dogs Legion has been available for four and a half months. That’s more than enough time for most players to go over the history of Watch Dogs Legion, which means that most of the remaining players are there for multiplayer. Even popular games like Watch Dogs Legion can suffer from a depleted player base for multiplayer, particularly when there is no crossover play and each platform is an island. In response, Ubisoft now says that it has plans to support both cross-play and cross-gen play in the future.
The confirmation did not come in the form of an announcement or disclosure. Rather, it came in response to a question on Twitter. A Watch Dogs Legion player asked the official Twitter account that the game enable cross-generation multiplayer. The official Watch Dogs Legion account responded, saying that the development team is working to add cross-play and cross-gen at a later date.
No further information on the upcoming update is provided, all that is being said is that both features are being worked on. At the very least, recognizing that they are in active development is better than simply planning them on paper. However, the lack of a release date could mean that the Watch Dogs Legion update is weeks to months away. The fact that it is revealed in an informal comment on Twitter probably implies the former.
While crossplay and cross-generation-play is currently not available for the Watch Dogs: Legion Online Mode, the development team is working on adding this feature to the game with a later update.

It’s also possible that Ubisoft is still evaluating the possibility of adding these features to Watch Dogs Legion and wants to see player response to the idea. Obviously, if Ubisoft had as much money and time as necessary, it would be done. However, with the Watch Dogs Legion aging and its player base already dwindling, it may become a more difficult decision.
Regardless of whether cross-platform and cross-platform games are being developed, the fan frustration that the features are not currently in Watch Dogs Legion is understandable. Watch Dogs Legion features a variety of multiplayer features, including cooperative and competitive modes. Not only are they unable to join players on competitive platforms, they cannot join players who may have upgraded to a next-gen console.
Ubisoft may have simply run out of time to add more features to Watch Dogs Legion multiplayer, or may not be fully prepared for the launch of next-gen consoles. Regardless, it is to be expected that the features will eventually release for Watch Dogs Legion and roll out in upcoming Ubisoft games before launch.
Watch Dogs Legion ya está disponible para PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One y Xbox Series X.
