When Dandara launched the PS4 two years ago, we were thrilled to finally share it with the world. After the launch, the huge reception in the game felt magical and we were immediately overwhelmed by it. Something about Dandara and the Salt Country spoke to the people and surprised us. In addition to this mental reception, we also received a very positive response. And we got a fair amount of constructive criticism, some of which were in line with what we were already hearing and some pieces of stuff that never happened to us. Since then, we have been reluctant to use Dandara to use some of this in our final version of the game we call Dandara: Temptations for Fear Edition.
When we started thinking about how to continue expanding and improving Dandara, our first thought was about the cuts we had to make before submitting the original version – every game has some sort of compromise you need to introduce – and the most interesting one was, the secret ending we had originally planned. Our vision for this realistic approach is very ambitious and we, unfortunately, had to take it out to introduce a standard game. We started writing down ideas for how to incorporate it into an existing basic game but in a fun way.
Based on the ideas that came to us from the community itself, we thought that the Trials of Fear would not only contain new content but also address some of the feedback we received. One of the most asked topics was the story itself, many people want to see more from Salt and its inhabitants. We promise that Trials of Fear Edition is now up to this!
The original content in Dandara has received some unofficial explanations and detailed discussions that are not included in the vanilla genre, and it blends well with the new content available in Trials of Fear. When we created Dandara for the first time, we included a lot of references to our Brazilian culture (and these, of course, are still here) and the Trials of Fear, you can think of as we enter the community in Dandara. Look, you can find something you suggested!
On the art side of the game, you can see how many artists appeared as they progressed after Dandara was introduced. New music tracks, sound effects, and píxel art have been added to another level. Thommaz, Dandara's composer, even went so far as to suggest all the original tracks!
If you have met Dandara before, we encourage you to return to another game because the new content and additional details in the story make it even clearer. Also, we've redesigned the curve for its complexity, and the new content combines with the original in such a way that things can play out differently in this regard. If you are yet to find salt land, now is the right time.
Dandara's actions will not be forgotten! And we will never forget your love for you players, which led us to create this new genre.
