The end of ‘Loki’ introduced us to a new villain, Kang, the Conqueror, however, the world was left wondering: why wasn’t a Variant of the God of Mischief the real baddie in this story?
While we’re pleased with the new villain’s welcome to Phase Four of the MCU, we believe that a Variant of Loki had to position itself as the mastermind behind the entire TVA. Why?
First of all, the series always focused on Loki. All of its five episodes. Week after week we watched Loki and his other version travel the Sacred Timeline to discover and destroy the leader of the TVA, however, the end of it all was left to a “new member”.
While He Who Remains left the door open for Loki and Sylvie to make a big decision, some part of us expected to see a different version of the God of Mischief sitting in the Citadel of Time.
Furthermore, the premise of the entire show was Loki’s personal discovery, as he ran into his other versions along the Sacred Timeline along the way.
The God of Mischief, more than once, “fought” against himself, while focusing on the “greater purpose”: to give humanity back their free will and their power to decide what they want to do in time.
For a moment, the Marvel villain was playing the hero of this story, and when everything seemed “complicated”, he never distanced himself from his purpose. So gifting us with a really evil and unscrupulous version of Loki would have been a great ending.
Beyond all this, if you ask us, we believe that identifying the bad guy in this story is a subjective “choice”, since we really consider that there is only one “bad guy” in this whole story that has the name of Lady Loki, or Sylvie as presented in this story.
Guys, come on! No matter who was left in the end as the leader of the TVA, the true villain of this series was Sylvie with her decision to kill He Who Remains and alter everything in the Sacred Timeline. Also, how to break the heart of the God of Mischief?
If we are “logical”, and our “theory” is accepted by you, a Variant of Loki was the villain of this story, only that he did not stay as the ruler of the TVA, but only screwed the world for his personal interests .
