Hello everyone, this is Alexandre Pernot Lopes from Trebuchet. Winds & Leaves will be out tomorrow on PS VR, and we thought this would be a great time to share some tips to get you started before you jump on the Gardener’s Stilts.
If you haven’t heard of it yet, Winds & Leaves is a flora building game in which you cultivate forests with your own hands to restore life in a barren world. Here is the launch trailer:
Exciting, isn’t it? Now let’s see the tips and tricks:
Tip # 1 – Expand your forest to explore more
When you try to stray too far from your trees, the roots will start to pull you back into the forest. With your root bundle fully loaded, you can venture quite far, but you should always plan ahead, either having enough fruit to plant and expand the forest in the drylands, or making sure you save enough. energy for the return.
Tip # 2 – Your fruit bag is like your gardener’s palette
As you progress through the world, you discover ancient trees that produce fruits with different characteristics. Each new variety of fruit will go in one of the six pockets of your pouch. When you start to mix and match fruits with characteristics suitable for a new terrain, your pocket will start to fill up and you will have to decide which fruits to keep. Always try to maintain a good strain so you can mix and match to overcome the different soils you will encounter.
Tip # 3 – Master the weather and watch your trees at night
One of your most powerful tools is the Time Mill, which lets you live on the same time scale as trees, passing years in seconds. When it is dark, you can stop and observe the connection between the trees you have planted, this will show you if a tree is not “connected”, that is, it is too far from the others. trees to be supported and that it will eventually die.
Tip # 4 – Keep an eye on ancient knowledge
You are not the first Gardener to set foot in this world, and you will find many traces of your predecessors there. In all regions, you will come across rocks with paintings that will give you clues to help you continue your journey. Tip # 5 – Make the garden your own
At the center of the Winds & Leaves world is the Garden, a haven of peace protected from the strong winds of the Steppe. Each ark you wake up will grow an identical tree in the garden, giving you easy access to all of your currently uncovered fruit. You can also plant any tree in the garden as they will always grow healthy there. In addition, they will not seed other trees around them, which allows you to do landscaping.
Tip # 6 – You don’t know where to go next, get high
Winds & Leaves has a huge world to explore. As your forest grows and becomes denser, you will need to gain height to look at the horizon. Climb a large tree and look for nearby landmarks to help you find your way.
Tip # 7 – Use headphones and try different comfort settings
Winds & Leaves has an evolving procedural soundtrack that reacts to the environment around you, you will enjoy it best with headphones!
To provide the best experience, we’ve included a bunch of comfort options. You can adjust a vignette intensity and choose a different rotation setting as well as set the position of your inventory items as you see fit.
You should now be ready to begin your journey. Winds & Leaves can be traveled at your own pace. Nature needs your help of course, but remember to take a moment sometimes to look back at the forests you have created and take in the views! Making Winds & Leaves a reality has been quite a journey for all of us at Trebuchet, and we’re excited to finally let players experience it!
