If you’re like me, you probably spend a lot of time reading articles on your phone. But often the point you’re trying to get to can be buried in paragraphs.
What if you just want to go straight there? Luckily, your Android phone can now do this for you thanks to AI.
There is a new AI-powered feature on some Samsung smartphones that can summarize articles on your behalf. It can give you a brief or detailed summary of everything you were going to read. But how does it work and on which devices does it work? Here’s everything you need to know.
What is Samsung’s Galaxy AI Summarize feature?
Tucked into the Samsung Internet Browser, the Galaxy AI Summarize feature can help you navigate the sea of information online. Using advanced AI, it can break down articles into manageable summaries. Want a translation? It will take care of that too, converting your summary into a variety of languages.
You can choose from a brief or more detailed summary of a particular article. The idea is to give you the essentials in a digestible extract, so you don’t have to read the entire article.
How to Use Galaxy AI Summary
- Chrome loyalists might complain, but this gem is exclusive to Samsung’s browser. Turn on Samsung Internet and view any article that caught your eye.
- Locate it Galaxy AI (the star icon) right in the middle of the toolbar at the bottom of your screen. Tap on it and choose between To summarize And Translate.
- If this is your first time using the feature, you will see a pop-up explaining how the features work. You’ll want to press All right
- Want a little more detail? Opt for one Detailed summary. Are you more of a picky person? THE Standard the option is your friend. Once your summary appears, tap Copy to take it wherever you want.

What devices does Galaxy AI Summarize work on?
Galaxy AI Summarize was initially exclusive to the Galaxy S24 series, but it quickly expanded to include many more devices. Here is the current list of compatible phones and tablets:
To access it, you need to make sure your device is running One UI 6.1 or later.
How to summarize articles without a recent Samsung phone
Don’t have a compatible Samsung phone? There are a few third-party apps that can summarize articles for you:
- Poached: Ideal for saving articles to read later, Pocket also offers a text-to-speech function and an interesting summary function in its premium version.
- Instapaper: Another solid choice for saving articles, with an emphasis on a clear reading experience. Its premium version allows you to search within articles, which is convenient for focusing on key information.
- SMMRY: A web tool that is free to use. Simply paste the URL or text of your article and SMMRY will strip it down to the essentials. It’s quick, easy and doesn’t require much.
