The football season is almost over, but Disney managed to put together a single Marvel movie before things finally came to an end. During the College National Championship match on Monday night, Disney debuted the latest Black Widow trailer, with lots of battle scenes, and a few actual details of what the movie really is about.
The trailer also informs us that Natasha has returned home, and takes us back to her sister, Yelena Belova, played by Oscar nominee Florence Pugh. After pausing for the rest of his family, the caravan gives us a pamphlet on why Nat had to come home, and what kind of danger he needs the help of his family to overcome.
Natasha explains to her sister that she is fleeing from the past and wants to be more than a killer trained to be. But to do that, he needs his family's help to get someone out of his past. And it turns out that someone is a Taskmaster. The trailer mocks the villain's weird identity, but what we get is just the closeness of the hidden figure, and the outpouring of mystery that may not be revealed until the movie actually comes out.
Black Widow is the first Marvel Cinematic Universe movie since last summer Spider-Man: Far from home, and the first to be part of a new phase 4 program. Episode 4 was used to focus on watching viewers learn more about characters they already love, such as Black Widow, and setting the first work of this coming after the tragic events of Avengers: Endgame.
Black Widow arrives in theaters on May 1st.
