There’s news from AMD: Like the French website Cowcotland (machine translated) reported the two mid-range models Radeon RX 6700 and RX 6700 XT at the end of the first quarter appear – i.e. at the end of March.
In addition, some technical specifications are mentioned, most of which have been around the net for a long time.
Hardware guides on GameStar-Plus
Have you already lost the desire to read on with “Middle Class”, are you only interested in real high-end? What other PC hardware you need if it is to be an RX 6800 XT or RTX 3080, we will tell you in our plus guides:
RX 6700 (XT) specifications
According to Cowcotland, the Radeon RX 6700 XT has 40 Compute Units (CUs), corresponding to 2,560 cores (AMD Stream Processors, SPs) and is based on the Navi-22- XT chip. The Radeon RX 6700, however, is based on the Navi-22-XL chip, but details on the number of arithmetic units are not given.
12,0 GByte VRAM und Raytracing: Both cards are also equipped with 12.0 GB of GDDR6 video memory, which in turn is connected via a 192-bit interface. In addition, both models should offer support for real-time ray tracing.
The question remains whether the two youngest representatives of the Radeon RX 6000 series, like their big siblings RX 6800, RX 6800 XT and RX 6900 XT, will also be equipped with so-called AMD Infinity Cache to compensate for the rather narrow memory interface.
How the already released Radeons compare to Nvidia’s RTX 3080 and Co. can be found in the GameStar test of the RX 6900 XT:

What does that mean for the performance of the new Radeons?
Based on 2,560 computing units, we can roughly estimate the performance of the RX 6700 XT. Because the RX 5700 XT has the same number of cores, nominally clocks with a maximum of 1,905 MHz – we expect around 2,000 MHz.
Advantage architecture: The new Radeons are based on a refined architecture, with corresponding increases in the power output per cycle (IPC, Instructions per Cycle). In addition, there will most likely be significantly higher clock rates, as we have already seen with the RX-6000 models that have already been released.
The journey could go there: All in all, we can assume that the Radeon RX 6700 XT is around 15 to 20 percent ahead of the RX 5700 XT and 10 to 15 percent behind the RX 6800.
More cores, higher clocks and all on one chip – a formula for increasing performance that could soon be obsolete. In the following article you can find out what graphics cards could look like in the future:

How much will the new Radeons cost?
Unfortunately, Cowcotland does not speak out on this. We place the RX 6700 XT in the range of 450 dollars, the RX 6700 will be a bit cheaper, maybe 350 to 400 dollars. If they are similarly poorly available as the current Radeons, in practice, however, clearly higher costs can be assumed.
How credible is the information?
As already mentioned at the beginning, the rough key data of the RX 6700 and RX 6700 XT have been around for a while. The latest information fits very well into the overall picture and confirms what is known so far. However, Cowcotland does not name the source for this information, nor where it is located.
How well AMD is doing in the high-end duel with Nvidia, which also allows conclusions to be drawn about the middle class, you can find out in the GameStar Talk:
