SAMURAI SHODOWN is one of the most iconic franchises in the video game world. Since its inception in 1993, the Samurai Shodown series, known for its awe-inspiring battles and mind-blowing characters, has redefined weapon-based fighting games. In 2019 – 11 years after its last opus – SAMURAI SHODOWN continued this tradition.
This new installment of the game takes place in 18th century Japan, three years before the original game and in it thirteen of the fan favorite characters return. They are joined Three new characters, including Shizumaru Hisame, the protagonist of SAMURAI SHODOWN III, who joins the fight alongside GONGSUN LI from the hugely popular mobile game Honor of Kings.
Additional characters are available through Season 1 and 2 Passes, with the third slated for release in February 2021. Classic Samurai Shodown concepts like the Fury Meter, Lightning Sword, and Super Special Moves are also making a comeback.
On March 16, 2021, the last installment in the series will be released on Xbox Series X | S. On Xbox Series X, the game will move at a constant speed of 120 FPS. Users of the previous version of the game will be able to play it on Series X | S at no additional cost thanks to the Smart Delivery program. Downloadable content purchased will also be transferable.
