Ninja Theory Presents the Third Episode of Its Dev Diaries, The Dreadnought Diaries, Focuses on Project Mara Details

A little over a year ago we encountered a new project in which Ninja theory I was working, Mara Project. The creators of Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice They are still immersed in the development of the sequel to the excellent title developed in 2017. We still do not know the date of Senua’s return with her second adventure, which was presented at the 2019 Game Awards gala. But today, it’s time to talk about this project in which the studio is working alongside the sequel to Hellblade.

We finally have new details on the development of Mara Project, Ninja Theory has published the third episode of its development journal. The dreadnought logs focuses on presenting various aspects of studio work in English. In the previous episodes, we got to see how the studio recreated the scenes from Iceland, where the second part of Hellblade.

Tameem Antoniades, one of the leaders of Ninja Theory, tries to explain the importance of the Mara project for the study. Defines it as a very concise project in which they try to capture reality in an almost obsessive way. The game is centered on a real place, an apartment, which the studio tries to recreate perfectly.

Realism taken to the highest level

The first step was to take samples of textures and colors of all the materials that are in the place. For this, they used a homemade scanner to take pictures in various lighting conditions. Thanks to these exhaustive samples, they succeeded in creating 3D models that after many months of work seem extremely realistic.

The next step was to accurately recreate the measurements of the apartment in which it takes place Mara Project. Antoniades He jokes that it’s not that easy to use a tape measure and start measuring walls. For this, they used professional scanners thanks to the company Clear angle which provided almost perfect results.

But it didn’t stop there, they also focused on shaping microscopic particles such as dust or dirt from materials. For this daunting task, they focused on developing procedural tools to create objects at this scale. For Ninja theory it is their way of approaching artistic creation, they do not want to simply create objects, but to develop systems capable of creating an object and endless variations of it.

Ninja theory says Project Mara doesn’t look like a video game or moviebut like something totally different. They want to take realism to a level that can trick our minds to make us feel the quirks and horrors of the world Mara inhabit.

From there, we can’t wait to learn more about this fascinating project. If you want to be informed of all the news of the world Xbox, to follow Xbox community via our social networks at Twitter, Tic and Youtube.
