The Tomb Raider film series is also known to have been rebooted with Alicia Vikander in the leading role as Lara Croft. Now another sequel is to follow – and there is now a director for this.
It has long been known that there will be another Tomb Raider movie after the reboot with Alicia Vikander in 2018 was quite successful. We have now taken a decisive step further in implementation.
As Deadline reported, it was now possible to land a director for the project. Accordingly, Misha Green will act as a writer and also a director. One of Green’s best-known projects is the HBO series “Lovecraft Country”.
Far from the series experience, the next Tomb Raider film will also be Green’s film debut. You will see Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft again. Graham King and Elizabeth Cantillion will be the producers.
The sequel has been officially confirmed since April 2019, with Ben Wheatly (“Free Fire”) actually taking over the position of director; however Wheatly left the project later, so that the post has become vacant again until the current occupation by Green.
The film reboot with Vikander was still supervised by the Norwegian filmmaker Roar Uthaug as director. The flick grossed $ 274.6 million worldwide. It is not yet clear when the sequel will actually be published.
