No more patents on the Apple Car. The Cupertino company continues develop the different ideas for the Apple Car which in due course turns into patents that we can examine. Two new patents have emerged (via Appleinsider) which explain how the seats can adapt their position simply by detecting that we are approaching the vehicle and also how the content of the screens will remain private for other users.
Self-adjusting seats without the push of a button
The first patent we will talk about today is the one entitled “Automatic configuration of self-configuring environments”. According to the document, the configuration of the position of the steering wheel, mirrors and the seat can be greatly simplified in the case of a shared vehicle. Apple suggests that the car can detect our presence by recognizing our iPhone and automatically make the necessary adjustments according to our preferences
There are several vehicles that do something similar today. By using a memory button, we can switch between one configuration or another. Apple proposes to go further and automate the process. The system would not only record the information of our preferences, but, using the information from our measurements (perhaps from the health app), it could plan an ideal configuration for the first time we get in the vehicle.
It must be said that it is somewhat striking that Apple talks about the steering wheel and mirrors in the patent. The truth is, a self-driving car doesn’t need either of the two components. In view of this, let us remember that in patents, the larger the language, the betterTherefore, this does not necessarily mean that this system is designed for a car with a steering wheel and can easily be translated into passenger seats, as well as those of the driver.
One screen, but several simultaneous displays
In this second patent, Apple explores the use of screens. Here, the text offers two challenges. The first is that the content of the vehicle screens cannot be seen by people outside the vehicle. The second is that passengers can enjoy content without anyone else in the vehicle being able to see it.
Faced with the second challenge, the easiest solution might be an individual screen for each person, but Apple came up with a much more creative solution. In the patent, Apple develops that it can be used a single screen, much larger than the individual screens
Thanks to some space glasses that synchronize the shutter speed of the same with the emission screen, we were only able to see the content selected for these glasses. So, two users could see different content on the same screen simultaneously without actually seeing the other person’s content. A solution that, by introducing random content while the mask shutter is closed, would also prevent anyone outside the vehicle from being able to bring anything out of the screen.
Apple continues to develop the company’s future autonomous car. The truth is, we don’t know, overall, what the company’s plans are for this product, but patent to patent we have discovered the most interesting details. The truth is, what we know so far makes for one of the most impressive cars, we will see what else the patents have in store for us.
