Since last December's official release of the Xbox Series X we've been aware of Microsoft's plans for the new generation. The American company explained at various times this past week that the console and ecosystem concept was looking for it, something they hope to achieve with the arrival of the Xbox Series X.
Now he was a commentator, Ben Gilbert, who published a great article in which the suggestion that Microsoft is working with the Xbox Series X and the Xbox brand is generally quite bizarre. Some points where an analyst review was already obvious to us, but in another it goes a step further and determines Microsoft's goals and the opportunity presented by the new generation.
Xbox Series X: The "console" battles are over
- Hardware is no longer a priority, the important thing is that you sell games within an existing ecosystem. In this way, the following US company projects pass through the Xbox Series X, Project XCloud and Xbox Game Pass. The flagship console is still the preferred medium route, but it's no longer important.
- The new Xbox will be the only final manifestation of the ecosystem. The idea of keeping up with previous genres (not just games) extends to accessories and even communities: in this way, the videogame library and everything associated with it, is stored for generations.
- From now on there is only Xbox: Xbox Series X is the latest Xbox console model. The change in speed that defines Microsoft's strategy, from this point on looks very similar to Apple and its iPhone.
- The Xbox Game Pass aims to be a "Netflix video game", when signing up for a monthly subscription allows access to a selection of emerging topics. In addition, with Project xCloud, Microsoft could be the first real company to push the idea of streaming into the gaming industry.
As we have mentioned in the above lines, some of these points are already explained by Microsoft in various discussions, though the commenter adds some of his interests regarding the strategy that Microsoft may be talking about in the new generation. If this strategy were followed, Microsoft would end the "war on comfort" by deciding on a split-bet model to deliver a service-focused approach that has been delivering good results in recent times.
The Xbox Series X will hit the market later this year and the date yet to be determined.
