As the future of NieRverse takes shape behind the scenes, players now have the opportunity to (re) immerse themselves in the founding episode, which itself is derived from the Drakengard. In response to the cute name of NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139 … this luxury remaster aims to enable those who wouldn’t have made the 2010 episode to hang up the cars with NieR Automata, and to do so under worthy conditions. However, the lovers of the first hour should not be outdone as this Nier replicant has its share of scenario additions that are likely to pique their curiosity.
It is only at the end of a long priest of forty hours, after going through the title up and down and down the line, that your servant writes these lines, and the editor sent us a copy of the game in good time. This enabled me to write everything down Nier replicant in terms of novelty, from the welcome addition of some gameplay elements to the most insignificant additional line of dialogue.
The little mermaid
We will not go back to the tortuous story that surrounds the various versions of Deny (I mentioned this thing here before) but keep that in mindInstead of Yonah’s father, we play her brother this time. The goal, however, remains the same: to find a cure for the strange disease that is eating the poor kid inside, known as runic necrosis. Very quickly our hero has to go on the trail of sealed worms, a kind of magical incantation, then the five fragments that allow access to the domain of the master of shadows.
As mentioned when discovering the title, Nier replicant does not seem at first to be inclined to deviate from the original framework. After seven to eight hours, however, two new NPCs appear and even turn out to be the center of an indiscriminate but seemingly harmless side quest. We suspect this is just to introduce the characters to give them more meaning later, and this actually happens in the second part of the game with a All new sequences connect a cabbage boat in the bay of Littoral, the port city of the game.
While exploring the wreck, our hero will meet a certain Louise, a young girl with a disturbing look, who is the focus of this passage, inspired by one of the short stories in the book Grimoire NieR, released in Japan only. This sequence ends with what is arguably the most impressive boss fight in the game., especially since there are two variants for its conclusion depending on the result.
Emile and (no) pictures
In addition to this random scenario tour, which lasts half an hour, Several new scenes connect the adventure, but only from the other endings of the game. ‘Cause for those who didn’t know Deny has multiple ends, just like Vending machinesexcept that instead of restarting the whole game (as was the case for End B of the 2017 game), only the second part needs to be re-run to access the B, C, and D endings. This is why these few new scenes see, for example, Emile talking to Cain outside the village, or Popola and Devola change a few words from curious ears. New narrative sequences (the famous reading-only passages) are also devoted to Emile’s tortuous past.
All of these unidentified scenes presented only from the other runs provide one little added value for restarting part of the game to be able to access new endings. Unfortunately, that doesn’t change the fact that Deny behaves always so many endless back and forth between different parts of the world. And the boat trip is only a relative solution The loading times for this version are still too long. Small originality: After the title has been completed for the first time, you can switch to the soundtrack fromVending machines
Finally, without saying too much those who would be willing to make all “sacrifices” during a specific ending sequence (Tip: follow the alphabetical order) Perhaps your courage will be very rewarded afterwards…
Know you idiot!
Since Nier replicant contains a good number of scenario additions, it was decided to do one new full dubbing with the help of actors who are already working on the 2010 title. This was in keeping with the spirit of the original game: fans shouldn’t get confused and find a Cain more fearless and lovable than ever. More interesting, All NPCs now have a voice that emphasizes immersion in the game world. A noter this time the possibility to switch to the Japanese synchronizationfrom the title screen menu.
I already mentioned the relatively mixed report on the game’s visual overhaul in my first impressions. Vending machines since then i would be more indulgent today, Nier replicant have absolutely no blushing in front of you. While certain environments like the Plaine Septentrionale or the village seem to have taken root in the early 2010s, others like Littoral or Faade, the city of sand, look a lot nicer than in the original game thanks to a nice work on the light. Regarding the new models of the characters and especially their faces, In the end we get used to it, even if we sometimes regret its lack of expressiveness
This remaster of Deny is also the opportunity to propose a reorganization of the pieces by Keiichi Okabe and his teammates from Studio Monaca. The result, which is very faithful to the soundtrack of the original game, turns out to be very successful. Some compositions even gain subtlety: Hill of Radiant Wind (the piece connected to the northern plain) or The prestigious mask (what we mean Faade) for example enlarged.
Machine-like
Nier Automata brought a breath of fresh air to the game thanks to the expertise of PlatinumGames, a former master in the development of highly dynamic game systems (Bayonetta at the top). It was natural at the time that the Toylogic studio responsible for this remaster would be inspired by doing something similar. So the protagonist, who is a little clumsy from the 2010 game, leaves room for one more spinning character who can now bypass enemies in split seconds or initiate a counter after a successful parry. Banning opponents who were missing in the original game is not negligible, as is the ability to end them immediately when they are down.
All of these little gameplay additions make the gaming experience more enjoyable, especially since the fluidity is obviously better. (without being perfectly stable on PS4) than on the first version of Deny. With all that said, we would have liked the opposing AI to wait less and offer a challenge at least as high as that ofVending machines. Unfortunately, this is not the case and It’s perfectly possible to browse the title without fear of a game. Among the more anecdotal, but nonetheless notable novelties, it should be noted that after a few seconds of running the character sets out more quickly and that the boar’s cruel maneuverability, a mount available in the plains, is just a distant memory.
Even more accessories, the DLC 15 nightmares (also call The world of recycled ships) is part of the game, although the question arises of his interest given the lack of. Despite this, in addition to the YoRHa weapons and equipment mentioned in this remaster, you can restore new weapons and kabuki and samoura outfits. All of this remains cosmetic, but it is always good to take.
