Toys for Bob – those responsible for the Skylanders games, the remakes of the Spyro and the fun Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time– you are now working on the franchise Call of Duty. That’s not all, it seems that Activision also fired several employees of that study.
We realized this thanks to a tweet on the official Toys for Bob account in which they say that they are “proud to support the development of season 3 of Call of Duty: Warzone
Following this release, illustrator and character designer Nicholas Kole announced that he had left the study. So did designer Blake Maloof, although he clarified that he did so on his own terms and the change only encouraged him to make the decision.
Fans of Crash Bandicoot and platform games have shown concern about this change on social networks. They believe Activision may be removing resources from other projects to locate them in the popular shooting game.
Right now, most Activision studios are working on titles related to Call of Duty. Among these are Infinity Ward, Treyarch, Sledgehammer, Raven, Beenox, High Moon, and now Toys for Bob.
This is reminiscent of what happened with Vicarious Visions. The developers of the excellent ‘remakes’ of Crash Bandicoot Y Tony Hawk were merged with Blizzard to put them to work on the new version of Diablo II.
