Announced last March, Google maps finally launches one of its new social functions which complements the reviews. The Google Maps application already allows users publish in site tabs.
Until now, users could only comment with their respective site rating, but as of now they have a new section where they can publish without leaving a review

All site tabs have activated the new ‘News’, a section where you can find the owner’s publications and now also the visitor messages.
At News> Visitors now we can see community posts and add our own posts to the wall of each site, as if it were a social network.
The limits that we find are that in order to publish, we must add at least one image
In the posts made by your user community, we can only give “likes” or report. Currently no comments can be added. The Google Maps team hopes that the community will use this new section to post their recommendations, news or events.
