The author George RR Martin, known to be responsible for the original book for “Game of Thrones”, also has his fingers in the game at Elden Ring. However, he has long since finished his work on the potential blockbuster from From Software.
George RR Martin is probably one of the hottest authors around the world. No wonder: With “A Song of Ice and Fire” he provided the book template for the HBO hit series “Game of Thrones”. But fans are sometimes a little mad at Martin, because the last two books in the novel series have long been pending. While the HBO series is over, readers are still waiting for the writer himself to break it up.
Now it is clear: His participation in the potential action hit Elden Ring by the Dark Souls makers of From Software has very little to do with the ever new delays in the next part of the book. Although Georg RR Martin is involved in the title confirmed for the beginning of 2022, his work on the game was completed a long time ago.
From Software commissioned Martin to build a world for Elden Ring with many background stories. He gave the world he created to the developers some time ago, who then built the actual game on it.
In this regard, he now tells the other WTTW
And further: “Basically, they wanted me to create a world in which the game could be set. They wanted world-building as a big factor in fantasy and science fiction. So I have a pretty detailed background built for her and from then on they took over. It’s really been several years since I last saw her. “
Martin himself does not shy away from superlatives in relation to his world created for Elden Ring and compares it with Tolkien’s Middle-earth. The final result in the game is known to Martin at least in part: From Software of his time, he was shown monsters and other “cool things” designed by From Software at regular intervals, so that he can stay up to date on how his world is being implemented in the game. “I’ll be just as excited as anyone to see it,” he concludes.
Elden Ring was recently presented in a trailer at E3 2021 and will be released on January 21, 2022 for PC, Xbox Series X / S, Xbox One, PS5 and PS4.
