Nintendo Obviously planned to bring Donkey Kong The franchise is back in the spotlight and will use new games and animation projects to do this.
Nintendo insiders Zippo and Nintendo Life both pointed out that Nintendo’s goal is to resurrect the IP in time for its 40th anniversary and to give Mario the same care it received on its 35th anniversary (thanks to VGC).
Zippo said: “A lot of people told me that Donkey Kong is after Mario, Nintendo promotes their game franchise to become the next franchise of the multimedia giant.”
“Donkey and the company. Not just got a new game, they got an animation (before this caught fire, my source didn’t say whether it was a movie or a show, but an animation featuring DK characters is in production.) Large theme Park expansion, merchandise, etc.
“This new game is not just a one-off. DK is once again valued by Big N. This should be good news for fans everywhere.”
This is inspiring for fans of everyone’s favorite naughty ape. The theme park expansion mentioned here is for the Super Nintendo World, and it makes sense for the company to take a multi-pronged approach to DK’s belated resurrection.
Zippo has previously hinted that Nintendo is developing a new DK game: “This is the 40th anniversary of Great Ape. Although I am not sure how Nintendo celebrated this moment, EPD Tokyo is developing a new 2D DK game,” they Say.
“Retro is obviously busy with other things, so Nintendo itself brought back DK as an internal series. Don’t expect the “country” nickname to return, because EPD Tokyo is not interested in making sequels to games they didn’t make.
Of course, handle all this with a pinch of salt; Nintendo itself hasn’t announced anything yet.
We haven’t seen much Donkey Kong recently. As early as July 2020, we saw “Donkey Kong Kingdom” and two other games landed on Nintendo Switch Online, and then in September 2020, Switch Online added “Donkey Kong Kingdom 2”.
Then, a new game and animation project may proceed smoothly.
