Feudal Baron: King’s Land – In the medieval building game you stand between people and king
It’s about the dear money
The start of the game will be similar to Anno 1800 and other representatives of the genre. With a few first residents, you first ensure a steady flow of resources to pull up more buildings. The bigger your city gets, the more sophisticated its needs become.
So far, so well known. As the title of the game suggests, there is another entity besides your inhabitants that you have to make happy: the king himself. Because he demands from you for the land ownership at regular intervals a tribute in the form of gold.
You do not get that from mines, but from your subordinates in the form of taxes. So you regulate in a very bureaucratic manner how many thalers have to be withdrawn from you. If you take too little, you get stink with the king. If you ask too much, resentment grows in the population. So it is important to find the golden mean and readjust it from time to time.

The Black Death is part of it
In addition to a tax rate that is too high, there is another challenge that comes into play. Because the Middle Ages were not only characterized by all sorts of battles (there are of course also), but above all by diseases such as the plague. If an epidemic spreads among your people, you have to intervene quickly so that the damage is limited.
The rest of the gameplay elements are good form in the genre. You can trade and have to defend your settlement against attacking troops from other factions. So the bottom line is that Feudal Baron could be a comprehensive package for construction fans.
It should take a while until the release. Currently was on the Steam product page no date announced yet. If you are already in the mood for a good building game, you will find our list of the best representatives of the genre here.
What do you think of Feudal’s Baron and the integration of taxes and diseases into everyday life? Do you keep an eye on the game or can the medieval setting no longer win you over?
