Mario Party Superstars, unlike Super Mario Party, could get paid DLC.
Mario Party Superstars will in all likelihood get paid additional content. The base game, which launches October 29th, revives five of the best boards of the N64 era and 100 mini-games across the line. But it looks like Nintendo may not stop there. A note in the English version of the eShop suggests this. Below the pre-order button is the note “Contains in-game purchases”. This can only be found in games with DLC. Versions of the eShop in other languages do not contain this notice.
Since Nintendo has not yet officially spoken of additional content for Mario Party Superstars, it remains to be seen whether it was just a mistake or not. However, it is not improbable. As the company’s current quarterly figures show, its predecessor Super Mario Party has sold almost 16 million times. One of the biggest criticisms was the small size and the unused potential to expand the title with DLC. It is quite possible that Nintendo would now like to siphon off this user base financially.
DLC packs each with a new board, two characters and ten additional mini-games would be conceivable. How do you feel about DLC for Mario Party?
