Sony is one of those brands that is taking a pace totally removed from the mobile industry. It doesn’t fight for price, it doesn’t have cheap terminals for the mainstream, and, despite everything, it does well in its size.
He knows that his strong point is the photographic department, and for the past few months he has been trying to bring it to smartphones as well, to a level suitable for a few.
In January, we encountered the Sony Xperia Pro 5G, a professional mobile with HDMI input, priced at around $ 2,500.
Today he introduced the Sony Xperia Pro I, which doesn’t cost that much, but is still far from what the general public is looking for, except that this model is not for them, for us. It’s for photographers.

Expected return
Sony knows power matters, and in this case, it didn’t want to skimp. We have a Snapdragon 888 with 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of internal memory. No minor versions.
The weight is high, with 211 grams, but it is understood by the size, the tightness to certify the protection against water (yes, it has IP68), etc.
At the front it is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus and at the back by Gorilla Glass 6.
One camera
Sony’s triple camera system works great on models anticipated to this one, and it looks like we’ll have a jump here with the use of the Exmor RS sensor we’ve seen in some of the company’s cameras.
It will have 12 Mpx although its biggest novelty is the size: 1 inch. It will allow a variable aperture from f / 2.0 to f / 4.0, which should give incredible blur, without penalizing the light for the size of the sensor.
The other two sensors are also 12 MP, one for wide angle and one for telephoto, which uses the periscope lens system we’ve seen in other models.
There will be a fourth sensor, a ToF called 3D iTof which we assume will help take depth data.
The front camera is much more modest, with a single 8MP f / 2.0 sensor.
A very striking display
The screen is another of the things that stand out from this model, with 6.5 inches diagonally in a 21: 9 aspect ratio that leaves us with an unusually elongated terminal.
The resolution is 4K, 3840 x 1644 px, and the technology is OLED, although the brightness is not mentioned, the weakest point of this type of panel that Sony uses.
It has 120Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch sample rate, the same as motion blur reduction.
As for the battery, we have 4,500 mAh, in addition to a headphone jack, a USB C port and two speakers. Obviously, the fingerprint sensor on the side and the dedicated camera key remain.
Pricing and availability
Sony has designed a mobile for professionals, and it shows in the price. As much as on previous occasions.
We don’t know if we’ll see it in Europe, but in UK, France, Netherlands and Germany it will be sold for 1799 dollars.
