Sonos Now Supports Amazon Music Ultra HD and Dolby Atmos

Sonos has just announced the compatibility with Amazon Music Ultra HD and Dolby Atmos Music, or what is already possible to enjoy the highest quality music on the brand’s speakers.

To access this high resolution music, you must have an Amazon Music Unlimited subscription, and make sure update your audio system to the latest version available. To do this, they can go in the Sonos app to the “Settings> System> System updates> Check for updates” menu and confirm that the latest version is installed.

Users who enjoy music on Sonos Radio HD and Amazon Music Unlimited can see the audio quality they are streaming via an icon that appears on the “Now playing” screen:

  • HD: indicates 16-bit lossless stream
  • Ultra HD: indicates lossless 24-bit stream
  • Dolby Atmos: Indicates a spatial audio stream mixed in Dolby Atmos

At this time, these Hi-Res Music and Dolby Atmos features are only available for Amazon Music. Sonos speakers are also compatible with Apple Music
