It takes two
Reveal of the year for the press and gamers alike, It Takes Two provided us with a touching collaborative experience in early 2021. Only playable as a pair, the broad public adventure with the air of good Pixar is signed by Josef Fares, founder of Hazelight (One Way Out). Cody and May, a couple about to divorce, share news of their split with their daughter Rose. When she sheds a tear on a couples therapy book signed by Doctor Hakim, the two heroes unfortunately find themselves transformed into dolls. Doctor Hakim materializes in front of them and explains to them that they must work together to find their human size. The title was rated 18/20 by JV and offers an extremely creative universe and diverse and clever puzzles. “Ultra funny, super nice and then only sold 40 $ and you can invite a friend to co-op for free“, Underlines the most prominent reader opinion.

The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles
As an excellent gateway to the world of Ace Attorney, The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles was a good surprise again this year 2021, despite its lack of French localization. This collection, with The Great Ace Attorney: Adventures and The Great Ace Attorney 2: Resolve, is set at the end of the 19th century, during the Meiji period in Japan and the Victorian era in England. The player embodies a certain Ryunosuke Naruhodo, the ancestor of the mythical Phoenix Wright. “Regulars of the series, this is the entire Ace Attorney experience, with its flaws and qualities, served in its most comfortable model to date.

Tormented souls
In homage to the genre games of the 90s, Tor mented Souls is a survival horror with a fixed camera. The game invites us to play Caroline Walker, a young woman who investigates the disappearance of twin sisters in the Wildberger manor. A nice homage to Resident Evil and Silent Hill of the time that our readers probably liked: “The atmosphere is damn good, the gameplay, albeit heavily influenced by it, manages to distance itself from its role models.

Ghost ‘n Goblins Resurrection
Ghost ‘n Goblins Resurrection inherited a rather cautious publication, but was warmly received by our readers. This new title, inspired by Ghosts ‘n Goblins and Ghouls’ n Ghosts, immerses you in a challenging universe full of monsters to defeat. The title is therefore praised for its enormous difficulty: “This episode is not just a remake, but a remake of the gameplay and the extremely challenging universe. The gameplay is extremely punishing, the jumps will drive young gamers who are used to saving every 5 minutes in current games insane.“. Rated 16/20 in our columns, in our opinion the game inherits honestly well-designed graphics, beautiful newly orchestrated themes and a real old-fashioned challenge.

Little Nightmares II
The second episode of the license published by Bandai Namco, Little Nightmares II, slips into the shoes of Momo, the new protagonist, accompanied by Six, the little girl in the yellow oilskin from the first opus, who this time is controlled by the AI. The goal is again to solve puzzles, explore a scary world and escape new monsters like the hunter or the mistress. If it had inherited a half-hearted criticism in our columns for its pleasant puzzles, which had to be solved parallel to a regularly problematic depth management, the game was much better appreciated by our readers. “It gives me great pleasure and the universe is as fascinating as it is fascinating, it makes you want to explore it, see and understand more. “, we can read in the opinions of our readers.

Street 96
Road 96 is a narrative road trip inspired by the films of Tarantino and the Coen brothers, the work of Yoan Fanise (Unknown Soldiers: Memories of the Great War, 11-11: Memories Retold). This French game takes on the role of a handful of young runaways determined to flee the land of Petria under the yoke of President Tyrak. In the course of fateful encounters on American streets, you will be faced with political decisions: join a small radical opposition group to overthrow the government, take a progressive position, or abstain from voting. The choice of movement also determines the end of the adventure between bus, taxi, hitchhiking or on foot. Rated 15/20 in our columns, we found the game to have solid storytelling, unique structure, and a great atmosphere. And the readers were also very satisfied with the experience: “A game for all road trip fans, but also for the 80s / 90s, of which we find a lot of references, especially on some mini-games that can only please those who grew up with them!

Mass Effect: Legendary Edition
Mass Effect: Legendary Edition is a remaster that combines all three episodes of the Mass Effect series in 4K UHD format with all previously published DLCs. This is the opportunity to find Commander Shepard faced with a threat of galactic size. In our opinion, this edition is the best way to discover or rediscover the cult saga of Bioware. We see some welcome improvements in combat, an impeccable soundtrack, and a character gallery that doesn’t age an inch. The proposal is also very well received by the readers, but with nuances: “It’s still a great game that has some graphics improvements, but is a bit old in some parts of the gameplay, facial animation, and staging.”

Independent Revelation of the Year 2021, Death’s Door is an action-RPG from Devolver Digital. The player is a brave soul carver who is robbed of one of the souls for which he was responsible. Then it is necessary to track down the person responsible in the depths of a realm that escapes death and is of course rich in threatening creatures.
