The Photos application on our Mac brings together the entire photo library that feeds on images imported from the same computer as well as photos or videos saved on our iPhone or iPad. With so much content there is a need to edit and tidy up and eliminate the stuff we no longer need, which may cause us to want to go the other way: recover deleted photos and videos.
Possible recovery within the first 30 days
Like many other applications and system services, The Photos app has a sort of trash can in which the images and videos that we deleted are kept so that we can recover them. It is a very simple process, the steps to follow are as follows:
- We open the Photos app on our Mac.
- In the left sidebar we select Deleted.
- We select the images or videos that we want to recover.
- We hit the button To recover, top right.
Easy, easy, easy. Note also that the deleted images and videos section classifies the content according to the date of deletion. So if we try to recover this photo that we have just deleted by mistake will always end up at the bottom of the list
For all time? No. Unlike the Recycle Bin on our Mac, which keeps deleted information until we manually empty it, the Photos app Recycle Bin on our Mac delete all items that have been there for more than 30 days. This means that we can recover any image or video as long as it was deleted less than a month ago.
This is to prevent deleted images from filling up space on our devices. In the end, thanks to the synchronization via iCloud, the amount of information that we manage in the Photos app is really considerable. Information which, in many cases, more if it is videos it has considerable weight.
In all cases, in the maintenance tasks of our photo library, we can act serenely. If we delete something that shouldn’t go away, we can always go to the Photos app recycle bin to get it back. Simple and efficient : Deleted, select and To recover, nothing more.
