Update from January 4, 2022, at 5:45 pm: Nvidia has officially confirmed the RTX 3090 Ti as part of its CES keynote. The performance characteristics seem to correspond to the most recent leaks. However, the company did not want to reveal details about price and release yet. Only that we should receive more information in the course of the month.
Original report from January 4, 2022, at 11:10 a.m .: For some time now, references to the Nvidia have been increasing Geforce RTX 3090 Ti. So there is now little doubt that the new top model from Nvidia will actually appear. And most of the specifications have long been known – apart from one important detail. And that could, contrary to our assumptions in earlier reports on the RTX 3090 Ti, ensure that the new flagship is significantly faster than the normal RTX 3090.
Total madness
RTX 3090 Ti with 1,275 watt power connection spotted
Because like the colleagues from Videocardz report, the RTX 3090 Ti is supposed to clock 165 MHz higher than the 3090 both in the base and in the top. In addition, there is the already known increase in the computing units used from 10,496 to 10,752, as well as a memory upgrade from GDDR6X with 21.0 Gbps instead of the previous 19.5 Gbps. The specs at a glance and in comparison:
RTX 3090 Ti * | Cores: 10.752 | Rate: 1.560/1.860 MHz | Storage: 24,0 GByte GDDR6X (21,0 Gbps) | TDP: 450 Watt |
RTX 3090 | Cores: 10.496 | Rate: 1.395/1.695 MHz | Storage: 24,0 GByte GDDR6X (19,5 Gbps) | TDP: 350 Watt |
What does this mean for the performance of the RTX 3090 Ti?
What have we accepted so far? So far we have assumed that the performance plus of the RTX 3090 Ti compared to the normal RTX 3090 is in the low single-digit percentage range. Maybe between three and a maximum of five percent and if so, then only in 4K resolution, since the increased core number is more important there than with lower resolution levels.
How do we rate the performance now? The significantly increased clock rate of at least twelve (base clock) or ten percent (turbo clock) plus more processing units and faster video memory could ultimately ensure noticeably more performance. In view of the new information, seven to eight percent seem quite realistic.

We should learn more specifically this evening as part of Nvidia’s CES keynote (see the link above). According to rumors, the launch of the RTX 3090 Ti will take place on January 27th – by then at the latest we will know exactly what the possible new flagship can really do.
