If you are looking for a cheap solution for your own home cinema, mini projectors are perfect. In comparison, we introduce you to five models – you can find out everything about the portable devices.
- A mini projector is a small, portable projector that is particularly suitable as a home cinema projector in darkened rooms.
- The devices do not have anywhere near the image quality and brightness of more expensive models, but they are very affordable.
- Depending on the model, image resolution, brightness and maximum projection area still differ significantly.
When you think of projectors, you often think of large, heavy and loud projectors that have to be attached to a wall or ceiling. However, the exact opposite of this also exists – mini projectors are small, portable and inexpensive projectors that are particularly suitable for budget-friendly home cinema. We explain to you what the devices are good for and present five recommended models.
What are mini projectors and what are the advantages and disadvantages?
Mini projectors are particularly small and portable projectors that are correspondingly inexpensive. Such models are available starting at 50 dollars, which is a significant difference to the entry-level prices of larger projectors. Because the devices are so cheap, they usually come with significantly reduced specifications and a smaller range of functions. However, they remain a good solution, especially for users who only occasionally want to project a series or film in large format.
The disadvantages of the devices are clear: the image resolution and brightness are lower than in more expensive models, and some features such as WLAN support are missing. Due to the lower brightness, the devices can usually only be used in darkened rooms in order to achieve sufficient quality. But the advantages are also obvious: the devices are so small that they can be easily taken to another location and placed practically anywhere.

LQWELL Mini-Beamer
The mini projector from LQWELL is special because of its round headlight shape. However, for its comparatively high price of around 80 dollars, it is slightly worse equipped than other models: the image resolution is only 720p and the maximum image size is only 130 inches. However, it has the highest brightness in comparison with around 120 ANSI lumens.
LQWELL Mini Beamer
- Image resolution: 1280 x 720 Pixel
- Maximum image size: 130 inches
- Maximum input resolution: 3120 x 2140 Pixel
- Brightness: 120 ANSI-Lumen
- Connection: WiFi 5, Bluetooth, HDMI, USB
However, the device comes with other common features such as an auto keystone and the connection via Bluetooth, HDMI and USB, and thanks to the particularly high output angle of 220°, the projection distance is smaller compared to other devices.
XuanPad Mini-Beamer
The rather sterile design of the XuanPad mini projector is more reminiscent of full-format projectors than other models, and the device is correspondingly well equipped in comparison. This includes a higher image resolution of 1080p, a brightness of 100 ANSI lumens, a maximum image size of 200 inches and support for WiFi 6.
XuanPad Mini Beamer
- Image resolution: 1920 x 1080 Pixel
- Maximum image size: 200 inches
- Maximum input resolution: 1920 x 1080 Pixel
- Brightness: 100 ANSI-Lumen
- Connection: WiFi 6, Bluetooth, HDMI, USB, AV connectors
The input options are particularly diverse here, because in addition to Bluetooth, HDMI and USB, the device also supports the older AV input. The disadvantage of the device, which costs around 90 dollars: The maximum resolution of the input image for the XuanPad projector is 1080p and not 4K (2160p), as with many other models.
PURSHE Mini-Beamer
The stylish mini projector from PURSHE is by far the cheapest device in comparison – it only costs 55 dollars. But you have to expect some compromises here. The image resolution of this model only reaches 720p and a maximum of 1080p videos can be played here, and the brightness is particularly low at only around 60 ANSI lumens.
PURSHE Mini Beamer
- Image resolution: 1280 x 720 Pixel
- Maximum image size: 200 inches
- Maximum input resolution: 1920 x 1080 Pixel
- Brightness: 60 ANSI-Lumen
- Connection: Bluetooth, HDMI, USB
You cannot connect to the device via WiFi either; only Bluetooth, HDMI and USB are available for this. After all, the PURSHE projector supports a maximum image size of 200 inches.
Jimveo Mini Beamer
Jimveo has the most expensive mini projector in our comparison, but also the most visually appealing in our opinion. The model, which costs around 100 dollars, comes with a maximum image resolution of 1080p and supports 4K media as well as a maximum projection size of a whopping 300 inches.
Jimveo Mini Beamer
- Image resolution: 1920 x 1080 Pixel
- Maximum image size: 300 inches
- Maximum input resolution: 3120 x 2140 Pixel
- Brightness: 95 ANSI-Lumen
- Connection: WiFi 6, Bluetooth, HDMI, USB, AUX
The 95 ANSI lumens of brightness are still sufficient, and in addition to Bluetooth and connections for HDMI, USB and AUX, fast WiFi 6 is also installed.
VOPLLS Mini-Beamer
The VOPLLS mini projector also has a special form factor – it comes with a stand, which makes it easier to project the image higher up on your wall.
VOPLLS Mini Beamer
- Image resolution: 1920 x 1080 Pixel
- Maximum image size: 210 inches
- Maximum input resolution: 3120 x 2140 Pixel
- Brightness: 115 ANSI-Lumen
- Connection: WiFi 5, Bluetooth, HDMI, USB
It is also convincing in other respects: with a resolution of 1080p and support for 4K media, 115 ANSI lumens of brightness and a maximum image size of 210 inches, it is well equipped for its price of around 90 dollars, even if it is good value for money -Comparison doesn’t win. WiFi 5, Bluetooth, HDMI and USB are available as connection options.
