if you’ve been playing Battlefield 2042 Since its release last November, you’ll no doubt be acutely aware that one of the game’s problems is inconsistent weapon attachment behavior, which is a major factor in its poor gunplay.
Some of these problems manifest in misleading attachment descriptions that do the opposite of what is stated. In other cases, some attachments are ineffective in performing their intended function.
DICE eventually corrected some of these bugs in a follow-up patch, but it doesn’t look like the problem is fully resolved. As Reddit user Zodhr noted, weapon recoil in Battlefield 2042 appears to be affected by line of sight and range choices.
As you can see in the video below; with an AK24 Assault Rifle, switching the sights from the Fusion Holo to the XDR Holo reduces vertical recoil by about 25%. This obviously shouldn’t happen, because in theory, none of the scopes in Battlefield 2042 have any recoil-affecting properties.
It’s worth noting that in both cases Zodhr has an Arcom Tactical Muzzle Brake fitted to the barrel, designed to reduce recoil. There may be a bug in the plus menu itself, and the effect of the muzzle brake doesn’t start to be applied until the sight is changed.
The same problem can cause similar problems with weapon grips. As shown in the video below from iFlyAircraft, the M5A3 assault rifle has different vertical recoil values when switching between the Cobra Grip and the LWG Grip – according to the in-game description, both should have the same effect.
In fact, the video shows that the compensator is connected, so it’s also possible that it only applies its effect after a change in grip. Whatever the cause, this is clearly a problem that needs to be addressed.
With the DICE developers returning from the holidays, we hope to hear soon about the studio’s game plans for 2022. Currently, we have more Battlefield 2042 lore.
