Dragon Ball Fighterz celebrates the fourth anniversary of its launch today with the sad news of the postponement of the World Finals
On a day like today, four years ago, Dragon Ball Fighterz hit the market to revolutionize fighting games in a way few expected.. This new IP based on the Akira Toriyama franchise, came from the hand of Arc System Works. Masters of anime-style fighting games, creators of legendary sagas of the genre how Guilty Equipment the Blazblue.
Sadly, Bandai Namco Esports just announced that postpone indefinitely Dragon Ball Fighterz World Finals. The current situation with the pandemic prevents the event which was to br ing together the best players from Europe, the United States and Japan in France next February from being organized.
For those unfamiliar with it, Dragon Ball Fighterz is a 3-on-3 team-based fighting game, also known as team fighting games. At our disposal, we had a roster of 24 characters to team up with on launch day. Which eventually amounted to a total of 43 wrestlers after 3 seasons. Allowing us to create fearsome combinations of characters from Dragon Ball Z, Super and GT.
A visual and mechanical delight, allowing us to enjoy a Dragon Ball game like we have never seen before. His success is not long in coming and quickly attracts the attention of fans of the genre and many lovers of the franchise who approach fighting games for the first time.
This meant an exponential growth of the community of fight, a niche that has always been difficult to access due to the complexity of the genre. But Dragon Ball Fighterz has been able to adapt and offer mechanics relatively simple to understand but difficult to master
A community that kept the flame burning
On a competitive level, Dragon Ball Fighterz had a great year in its early years, with a historic rivalry between GO1 Yes sonic fox which could well be considered Goku and Vegeta’s. Sharing several important titles like EVO or World Championships in between in their first two seasons. In Europe, it was no less the thing.
