The finale of the building game fan favorite Factorio has been a long time coming. The last update was announced over a year ago in the form of a major addon, but since then players have waited in vain for any news. Now the developers have spoken and the wait seems worth it.
As big as the main game
In a new one Blogpost the developers of Factorio give an update on the current status of the addon – and what fans can expect from it:
“The goal is for the addon to feel as big as the whole vanilla game. That’s why we’re planning a price of $30 and we’re going to bring enough content that’s worth the price.”
Determining the price and scope should also be an important step towards release, “so that another nine months don’t go by.” Release in 2022 so it seems to be pending. Currently “large parts are playable” and a full prototype is being worked on.
In addition, there is a detailed release plan in seven steps that can be read – according to this, an extensive beta test is to be carried out before the release, to which major mod developers are invited in order to test the mod tool in particular and to give valuable feedback.
It is planned that at the time of release the big update 1.2 for all players is played. There are many improvements in this regardless of the new content. Buyers of the addon will then get the big new content as a freely activatable mod. This means that players can continue to play together in multiplayer without buying the addon and there will be a compatible game version for everyone.
