If, after the presentation at CES 2020, there was no doubt about the medium-term success of the Odyssey series, we did not imagine such a critical and commercial success so quickly.

It’s very simple, from the G3 to the Neo G9, through all variants of the G5 and G7, and while Samsung was waiting for the Neo G8 again this year, Samsung has been able to renew itself and establish itself as the leading supplier of screens for gamers in the world. After smartphones and televisions, Samsung continues to expand its leadership in the tech world.

The latest in the large family of Samsung Odyssey screens, the 28-inch G7 is the first in the lineup to offer 4K resolution and one of the few available on the market.

Still marginal in the PC universe, 4K has become inseparable from new generation consoles (PS5 and Xbox series) and is regularly highlighted by manufacturers of high-end graphics cards such as the RTX 3080 and 3090. Despite this, 4K on PC screens is not very present on the market and gamers who want to benefit from such viewing comfort end up connecting their computer to their TV, which is often placed in the middle of the living room.

For PC gaming, therefore, we are faced with a 4K (3840 x 2160p) screen with IPS panel, 144 Hz refresh rate, 1 ms response time, AMD FreeSync Premium Pro certification (G-Sync) and HDR400 technology, which increases contrast in dark areas.

The IPS panel is the one that offers the best colors and the best viewing angles, up to 170°. Also note a very low input lag of just under 2 ms.

For the game on the PS5 or Xbox series, we have two HDMI 2.1 inputs here, which means that the game can be played in 4K at 120 fps if it is supported in the games.
