The exciting world of speedruns is non-stop (dramatic pause). No matter what game it is, it can always be “broken” in a thousand different ways by memorizing and perfecting a layout to create times that seem like a utopia to the rest of us mortals, or by means of special tricks…
On the latter are, for example, the Any% terms to complete a game in any way, even if this implies the use of bugs; o TAS, with the use of tools that automate certain procedures. And in the case of Elden Ring, they just got another world record in Any% under 9 minutes.
It is curious, because just ten days ago we saw a first “impossible” record of Distortion2 in just 18 minutes and 57 seconds. Recently, yes, another user called Mitchriz lowered that mark at 12 minutes and 32 seconds
Obviously, it takes advantage of countless glitches in the game to logically teleport to places where it shouldn’t be allowed so soon, as well as taking advantage of a number of other tricks to reach that mark. It’s ridiculous at this point to think of such a low figure for a game that easily exceeds 100 hours of play. But that is what the Any% category has, after all. For impressive feats by legal means, we have people who have passed it without dying or in a pacifist way, without attacking. Those really have merit!
