I never wanted to own an Xbox console, if I'm being completely honest.
For the last 19 years Microsoft has put a special after-on special that doesn't interest me at all. The consistency is actually amazing. Not that the Xbox is console or personal is not well made – it's usually not mine. Even a few of those games they were got my attention years ago, games like The head of the cup and Ori and the Blind Forest, find their way to other home connections in a timely manner. I know that there are viewers of Xbox games, a community of dedicated Xbox fans and everyday gamers who enjoy being selected, but I've never counted among them.
This past December, my best friend Cortny throws a big box into my lap during an annual gift exchange. Inside was an Xbox One S blurred “All-Digital” blind. I was shocked.
It is important to note that Courny started working remotely with Microsoft this past summer, despite not having gaming-related behavior. Like me, he was never a fan of Xbox, having been brought up in a tight stream of Nintendo and PlayStation offerings. Different from her Halo, a series he used to love when playing with friends on the Xbox 360 during his college years. We both laughed when he was hired at Microsoft, joking that he would be offered to play exclusively on the Xbox One and PC for the foreseeable future.
The Xbox One I was offered was an invitation to join my friend in Microsoft's gaming space, an area I had been overlooking or underneath for nearly two decades. Although he sold the Xbox One himself some months ago, Courny wasn't quite sure what the program had to offer with games or features. He was happy and surprised that they checked us out together. On the other hand, I became frustrated. Here's a friend who left their way to give me a whole new home concert, and I was afraid there might be little they could give me.
Anyway, since I never had a lot of hands-on time with the Xbox One, I was excited when I started roaming.
After connecting to the web and navigating through the complex connection of the system I was attracted to the corner of the Xbox world and had heard many good things about – the Xbox Game Pass. It seemed like a great opportunity for me to learn what the Xbox One platform was offering for games. And seeing as I couldn't do any of the discounted discs on my new system, Game Pass made financial sense.
Game Pass, which has been running again since mid-2017, is actually Netflix for video games. Its 100+ game library is included on Xbox outdoors, indie lovers, and third party entries. I quickly looked at the previous Xbox shots Halo, Gears of War, again Forza, I was on my way to finding a few games that caught my eye last year. As I added game after game to the download line, I felt like I was pulling out something very digital. I was taking all Microsoft games and it didn't seem to matter!
I stare in awe at my phone, waiting for Xbox head Phil Spencer to call me to let me know that the police are on their way.
Most of the games I downloaded in my first spree were quirky indie titles that didn't satisfy me with knowing their originality. My friend Pedro, Wadersong, again Flat Fall Human it was among my first picks. When I played in the teaching section of each new game I felt calm, lack of enough pressure, and washed.
The decision to buy the game often comes with a personalized explanation of how it will be a fun use of hard earned money. But I didn't the need
While most of the games I've tried with Game Pass didn't catch my interest for long, there were a few that caught my attention. I really enjoyed it Slowly, Lonely Mountains of Descent, It's very hot, and a few others on my first play. In fact, I'm done Slowly in the same seat. I'm glad I won the offbeat adventure, but a part of me was also relieved that I didn't have to spend $ 10 to play a game on another system.
As I stepped back into the Game Pass selection with a new sense of power, I realized that the bulk of the games I had unintentionally cut in my first search were the ones I already had. Guacamelee, Goose Game With No Title, Hollow Knight, Costume Quest 2 – games that have brought me happy hours, but games that I have bought and played months ago (if not years). “If you were waiting,” said a small voice in the back of my mind.
Realizing this is not all bad. If a lot of the games I played elsewhere would have come to Game Pass, this was definitely a sign that there were many more to come. It wasn't Microsoft's fault that I deliberately played a bunch of interesting games on their service. It just meant that sticking with Game Pass would benefit me in the months ahead.
Of course, Courny wanted to find a game we could play together, and his heart was determined for Rare & # 39; s Sea of Thieves. After setting up my Xbox at home, where I picked it up confused among my console brothers, I hopped on Xbox Live to join a group of Pirny impersonators.
Now that they have played Sea of Thieves at E3 2016, I had some recollections of how the game worked and managed. Before long, Courny and I followed the buried treasure, battling the bones, and cracked bananas, the skin and everything. I'm not usually a fan of first-person viewing, as it tends to make me confused, but I caught it as we sailed, but I fell off the ship a couple of times … in one trip.
Courny and I haven't had many opportunities to sail since that day, what with our busy schedules, but Sea of Thieves it looks like the kind of online shenanigans I discovered a long time ago. Hopefully we can find a few more games to play online soon. I've downloaded Ninja Theory & # 39; s Bleeding Edge we are expecting its release in March, but for now, the high seas theft is fun.
After more than a month with the Xbox One, I am cautious. The Xbox version didn't fail me, but I'm starting to see some of the likes. Game Pass is definitely the best feature of the program for me. It is currently available as a glorified demo selection, but it could turn the Xbox One into my dedicated indie game machine.
Heavy Microsoft's first-team hitter doesn't excite me, but I'm looking forward to smaller games like Ooblets, Tunic, again Wars launches on the Xbox One in 2020. Also Skatebird. That game looks great, and it has already been announced for Game Pass.
So here it is, Xbox. In time you may not be a consolation to me, but all is well. You're right.
