Genshin Impact Update 2.7 has been delayed for a while, developers Mihoyo announced.
The announcement was made via the official Genshin Impact Twitter account, without specifying the reason for the delay. This is the first time the game has had such a delay, which is surprising considering it launched in the first year of the pandemic. The tweet announcing the news said, “Dear Travelers, the update to version 2.7 will be delayed due to project progress. Stay tuned for follow-up announcements for details on new update dates, content adjustment plans, and compensation.”
In a follow-up tweet, the account apologized for the delay, “We will provide travelers with the appropriate information as soon as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience. Thank you for your support and understanding during your trip.”
The game was due to receive the update on May 10th, just over a week after that. We haven’t seen who the updated banner characters are, nor have there been any official announcements, so the delay isn’t entirely surprising.
Currently in version 2.6, also known as Zephyr of Violet Evergarden, players have seen the return of many characters, as well as the latest handsome, blue-haired, sword-wielding Ayato Kamari. Players can also travel to a place called the Abyss, where some kind of trouble is brewing.
A representative who spoke to Polygon also mentioned compensation, meaning players may receive something due to the delay.
Thankfully, the replies to news announcements on Twitter are incredible, with a lot of users link to a thread Details Covid-related issues in Shanghai, where miHoYo is based. Currently, residents are struggling to get food due to recent lockdown announcements. This is probably the main reason for the delay.
