Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer understands fans must be frustrated by the delays for both red fall and starry skyand commented on the delay on Twitter.
Yesterday, Bethesda announced that it had delayed Starfield and Redfall until the first half of 2023 to make them “the best and most polished” games.
Reactions from those looking forward to the game ranged from understanding to disappointment, with some suggesting that Starfield’s release date in particular was a little too early.
as a responseSpencer said that both the studio and Microsoft had “heard feedback” and that such a decision would be difficult for developers to make.
“These decisions are tough for the team making the game and for our fans. While I’m all for giving the team time to release these great games when they’re ready, we’ll hear feedback,” he said.
“We expect to deliver quality and consistency, and we will continue to work to better meet those expectations.”
While the delay is certainly disappointing, there is a bright side to the fact that we’ll be “digging into” the gameplay of both games “soon”.
In other words, we can expect to finally see some actual gameplay from Arkane Austin’s Redfall and Bethesda Game Studios’ Starfield at the June 12 Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase.
