Recent changes in the Highway Code established by the DGT in Europe have changed the way we can use the mobile in the car. As a rule, it is always understood that if we drive we cannot use the phone, which was already in force last year, but now it is getting tougher.
Despite this, it is possible that we will receive a fine for various reasons even if we do not use the terminal screen. Yes, it is something that is sometimes left to the judgment of the police or the Civil Guard, but it is better not to risk it.
Wear it in a support that obscures vision
Many of us carry the mobile on the dashboard of the car to use the GPS indications. However, there are already many supports that will not be valid.
The new regulation establishes 100 dollars a fine for using a mount that obstructs the driver’s vision, even when the phone is not in use.
For this reason, instead of carrying one of these supports anchored with a suction cup to the front window, it is preferable to use a grille, which places the smartphone in a position similar to that of the car’s own screens.
Use it on a stand
Although we have adequate support, we must know that we cannot use it while driving. And this even when you stop at a red light or when you are in a traffic jam.
If we do it, even if it’s to put on the GPS or change the music, we can be fined 200 dollars and the withdrawal of 3 points of the driver’s license.
Have it in your hand even if you don’t use it
Likewise, if we have the phone in hand, even if we do not use it, even if it is turned off, we will be fined the same as in the previous case, of 200 dollars
Can it be used in any way while driving?
Provided that no dangerous situation is created, we may use the mobile to call if we have a handsfree with buttons in the car.
We can also use the voice assistant as long as we do it without touching the phone, simply by activating the voice command, to tell it what we want it to do, whether it’s to put on some music, answer a question or call someone.
