In its fourth-quarter and year-end report, Gearbox’s parent company, Embracer Group, announced that the studio has nine triple-A titles in development.

Gearbox has a development department and a publishing department. It’s unclear if all nine games were developed by Gearbox Software or published by Gearbox Publishing, as Embracer didn’t clarify.

Embracer acquired Gearbox in February 2021 for $1.3 billion. It was announced that the funding will allow the studio to expand to develop more games and grow its North American publishing business. The Borderlands IP remains owned by Gearbox, and the studio will continue to develop the series in partnership with publisher 2K Games.

Currently, the only game we know of Gearbox Software in development is Borderlands Legends 2. It’s also working on DLC for Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, the latest of which is Glutton’s Gamble, which was released today.

While not directly involved in the following games, Gearbox will be releasing Eyes in the Dark: The Curious Case of Victoria Bloom, There’s a Good Death, Homeworld 3, Hyper Light Breaker and Relic Hunters Legends

.

It remains to be seen whether these titles are included in the nine Embracer states currently in development.
