That we still have three and a half months to get to know the iPhone 14 does not mean that we do not already know a good part of its characteristics. Indeed, to the delight of some and the misfortune of others, many features of future Apple smartphones are unveiled months before. Now we are fully the heyday of rumors which clearly indicate what this new generation will be like. And based on them, we have a hunch that models like the iPhone 14 Pro will be everything the iPhone 13 for some reason didn’t want to be.
Rumors are reborn, Apple’s strategy or leak miscalculations?
With the unspoken maxim of changing as little as possible from one generation to the next, the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro (with their respective ‘mini’ and ‘Max’ versions) arrived with few changes compared to their predecessors. Processor, camera improvements, notch reduction and new colors. But very specific aspects. Even though in their first rumors they aimed higher
First, there were those who opted for a notch elimination for the iPhone 13 which, as I said before, resulted in a noticeable reduction in the notch. There has been talk of an LTPO panel that would enable the always-on screen feature for these iPhone 13s. There has also been talk that they can send messages and emergency calls via satellite without the need for coverage . Guess what? He didn’t come either. And, curiously, these characteristics and others that they were rumored for the ’13’ they ring again for the ’14’.
Why do we find certain predictions of identical characteristics for the iPhone 14 when they already sounded for the iPhone 13?
At this point we have two aspects of the analysis. On the one hand, that those who filter this type of characteristics have erroneous data concerning the dates and this can lead to a Wrong interpretationhaving given rise to speculation about models from previous years, when Apple’s plans were actually drawn further into the future.
On the other hand, we have the never excluded possibility that they are completely false information. Personally, I lean more towards the former. That different analysts and the leaks taking into account the same chain of false information seems quite strange. Unless it is an Apple strategy to hunt the “mole”, which would open a third way.
However, going back to the first hypothesis, everything really indicates that Apple was slower with development than the fugitives imagined. Or maybe it was a measured strategy in order to don’t spend all your bullets too soon. Returning to that of linear evolution, it seems that the company it pays more to make small changes than to take a big leap. And we refer to data because it continues to be the great asset of Apple’s revenue, even in the face of complex circumstances such as component shortages.
Now We just have to wait. The curtain on the Steve Jobs Theater will rise again in September for the iPhone 14 debut. We’ll see if already with an audience in the auditorium or in a mixed format like that of the upcoming WWDC22. What is clear is that, at least from what we can see today, the iPhone 14 Pro will be dressed in a good deal of that trappings that the iPhone 13 threw away. And yes, we insist on the ‘Pro’, because for the standard models we have another story.
