Ustwo games, the studio behind it Monument Valley and Alba: A Wildlife Adventure, announced his next game during the June 9th Summer Game Fest Day of the Devs livestream. It’s a fully voiced strategy game about dreams, relationships and regret Desta: The memories in betweenand it stars a non-binary protagonist named Desta.
Desta is in her 20s and they return home as adults, having left some of their relationships in a strange state. In dream sequences, Desta hears about people in her life who made a difference or taught her something. The game also explores Desta’s coping with her father’s death and themes of loss – but again, it’s a strategy game with plenty of mechanics alongside the narrative.
How deep is the strategy here? According to ustwo, the game is inspired by Hades
The game’s art has a hand-painted look, almost like a picture book. Gameplay screens look like a more colorful version of Monument Valley and represent a turn-based sports game in which characters match a ball and sometimes bounce it off various surfaces and obstacles to complete a tricky pass.
Desta: The memories in between hasn’t announced any platforms or a release date yet.
