And it’s Thirsty Suitors who have the tough task of opening the ball in the Tribeca Games Spotlight. A colorful game, accompanied by the melodies adopted by Scott Pilgrim-like.
The selection of the Tribeca Games Festival is eclectic, to say the least. What do A Plague Tale Requiem, Oxenfree 2 and Venba have in common? Narrative. And this aspect is clearly emphasized in Thirsty Suitors, a feminine Scott Pilgrim-like.
Thirsty suitors, a Scott Pilgrim-esque barré
Players take on the role of Jala, a young woman with a turbulent romantic past who returns home for her sister’s wedding. Struggling with the demands of her parents, she mostly has to contend with a slew of very lethargic exes, mend their broken friendships, and also beat up a few punks on wheels and suitors who are a bit too insistent.
Thirsty Suitors will use humor to address a variety of issues, including family pressures, self-expression, relationships with others, and especially underrepresented cultures. It will be transcribed into several mechanics, including Indian cooking, which will have its own mini-game. Also on the program are skateboard mechanics, challenges, side quests and, most importantly, turn-based combat that promises to get insane. A production signed by Annapurna Interactive that will be released on PC at a date not yet known.
