Ten years is a long time. Action RPG fans can Dragon’s Dogma confirm. They had to be patient for a whole decade until they finally got a real successor. But now Capcom has officially announced Dragon’s Dogma 2.
A suitable stage was sought for the unveiling of the game. And what occasion could be more ideal for the reveal than the 10th anniversary live stream? In it, series creator Hideaki Itsuno dropped the bomb at the very end (can be seen from minute 11:30):

But what do we already know about Dragon’s Dogma 2? Spoilers: not much. Because apart from this very passionate announcement from the developers, information about the game was mostly scarce. But we were able to collect a few snippets.
All known information about Dragon’s Dogma 2
First of all, let’s throw the elephant upright out of the room so that fans don’t get false hopes: No, for one Nothing has been said about the release date yet. It was to be expected that nothing would happen this year. Whether Dragon’s Dogma will appear in 2023 cannot be said at this time.
But the game should be chic. Because one of the official information from Capcom reveals that the development team will use the in-house RE Engine. This name should sound familiar to you, because this engine has been powering both Monster Hunter Rise and the Resident Evil games since the seventh part. So the chances are good that Dragon’s Dogma 2 won’t be a flop, at least visually.
Nothing for kids? Originally, you could also see writing at the end of the stream stating that Dragon’s Dogma 2 is currently under review by the ESRB – the equivalent of the USK in the US and Canada – and is currently expected to receive an age rating of 17+. This suggests that the game is not exactly squeamish when it comes to depicting violence.

Is it worth catching up on the first?
If you are hearing about the franchise for the first time, you might be interested in the predecessor in order to ideally prepare for Dragon’s Dogma 2. For the PC, Dragon’s Dogma with the suffix Dark Arisen only appeared in 2016 in a technically modernized version with additional content. In our test, we were very impressed by the great overall impression:
