Season 5 begins in Valorant on June 22nd. There is a new map on board that lets you compete against each other under water. Also, developer Riot Games is introducing a new rank that aims to close the gap between the top and bottom ranks.
The evergreen Valorant starts its fifth season on June 22nd. Developer Riot Games published the official patch notes a few days in advance. The biggest innovation of the coming season is the Pearl map, in which players are drawn under the surface of the water – but only visually.
Because the battlefield is protected by a dome and offers classic Valorant-style combat: two teams and two targets that they must destroy with bombs in order to win. There shouldn’t be any fancy new mechanics. If you want to start directly on the new map, you can only do this in normal mode without rating. Only after two weeks will Riot Games open the map for ranked games, which are again about ranks and points.
In addition, the developers are introducing the new rank “Ascendant”, which is intended to represent an intermediate level between the upper and lower ranks, as they believe that too many players are stuck in the lower ranks.
