Prevent Google Assistant from activating when it recognizes your voice by mistake: here’s how you can deactivate it

While Google Assistant is even capable of adding your vehicles, a function currently available in the United States, and a series of other things that we are used to, sometimes mistakenly recognizes the voice of someone nearby as if it were ours. So it can be turned off if the Google Assistant gets in the way.

Two Ways to Disable Google Assistant

Besides the fact that it can be activated by mistake when recognizing our voice as if we were using one of its commands, such as Ok, Google or Hi Google

We have two ways to turn it off. One is completely, and the other is that we turn off the Hey Google or Ok, Google. In this last way, Google Assistant will be available, but it will no longer be activated accidentally or inopportunely.

If you have a reminder with Google Assistant, we recommend moving it to another device or making a backup just in case. And it’s only once completely disabled reminders will be lostbut not those related to Google Keep, the note-taking application.

To completely disable the Google Assistant, we open the Google application on the phone, click on the profile icon and we go to Settings > Google Assistant > General (we have to scroll a bit to find it). Now we click on the Google Assistant deactivation button. In the small window that appears, press deactivate and that’s it.

Desactivamos solamente el comando Ok, Google

Si solamente queremos desactivar el comando con el que se activa Google Assistant, procedemos a abrir la app de Google, pulsamos sobre el icono de perfil, y elegimos de nuevo ajustes.

Vamos de nuevo a Asistente de Google, y ahora a Hey Google y Voice Match. Desactivamos la opción Hey Google. Ahora ya estamos listos y el asistente no se activará por error en ningún momento.

Dicho esto, desactivar Google Assistant de estas dos formas no significa que no podamos acceder a sus funciones, ya que desde el mismo widget de Google o la app podemos pulsar sobre el botón de micrófono para activarlo.

Lo único que nos quitaremos de encima esos momentos inoportunos en los que la ventanita de Google Assistant aparece en el teléfono avisando de que no ha sido capaz de reconocer lo que hemos dicho al activarse por error.
