for the past week, Games done quickly held its annual speed running festival. As always, the event was awesome, filled with some really mind-blowing exploits, including an exploit full of exploits run through Halo infinity‘s open world campaign. But the organizers seem to have saved the best for last, with a truly packed line-up planned for tomorrow, the final night of the event.
Games Done Quick, now in its 12th year, is a biannual event (held once in winter, once in summer) where some of the world’s best speedrunners live stream lightning-fast, often creative runs through popular games. The festival also raises funds for charity; this year go to Doctors Without Bordersan international humanitarian organization.
All completed runs of this year are archived on Games Done Quick YouTube channel. However, some of the most promising runs are still in the pipeline. Here’s the full schedule for the weekend (with times that automatically adjust to your local time zone). Some runs to watch out for:
- trend7 will blast through every dungeon in the Wii version of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Wakerthat some say (hello) is the “best zelda game”, in less than three hours.
- That Metroid speed runner kekumanshoyu will complete Metroid horror, the latest game in the series, in an hour and 21 minutes. (For those interested Here is an overview how fear Speedrunners complete the game in less than 90 minutes.)
- Also in Metroid World, oat goats will do a two and a half hour “any%” of Kaizo Super Metroida modified version of Super Metroid this makes the 1994 classic what can only be described as “fffffuuuuuuccccckkkk this”.
- Shredberg will complete all difficult dark levels super meat boythe infamously sticky side-scrolling platformer, in just over an hour.
- But maybe the top of the marquee is a Super Mario Maker 2 Relay race by PangeaPanga, Juzcook, CarlSagan42, Aurateur, Shoujo and TanukiDan. These are always a hit.
That’s not all. As a final, Games Done Quick will end with a pair on Sunday elden ring runs: catalyst receive all “Memories” or consumable items from high-level bosses within two hours; This is followed by a 33-minute traditional Any% speedrun Hyp3rsomniac.
